Towards the end of a crucial political period in Greece and before the beginning of a new one, Dimitris Hantzopoulos (known in Greece from his political cartoons in “Kathimerini” journal), presents a selection of political humorous cartoons inspired by the political and social events which stigmatized the Crisis period in Greece and by the memorandums applied in the four last years. His sketches are always related to classical painting, so they can easily be presented as autonomous artworks.
In parallel with the political cartoons exhibition, his recent graphic novel “Pope Ioanna”, by 19th century Greek novelist Emmanouil Roidis (published by The Athens Review of Books) as well as a relevant video, will be presented at the Gallery.
The political cartoons are published in a limited edition (1/6 to 6/6), signed by the artist, in Giclée print by Graphicon.
