Alexandra’s inspiration for this work is a recurring dream of hers that has persisted for over 30 years. Giving form to its elemental spirituality has always been a compelling notion in the back of her mind. It was during the pandemic’s forced confinement that she focused on its visual translation, employing the emotive nuances of a stark winter landscape that opens up to the sea.Her installation combines archetypal elements to create an imaginary environment that invokes the spirit of pristine nature. Like a calm wilderness free of any intervention, the scenery’s circular center draws the viewer deeper into a solitary and meditative place.
“Dreamscape” can be seen as a world that existed before human presence and is now forever lost. It can also be felt as a haven of safety and serenity, much needed in these difficult times. A protected place of refuge and peace…
