Achilleas Papacostas (b. 1970, Athens) is a graduate of the Thessaloniki School of Fine Arts and the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) under P. Tetsis and R. Papaspyrou. He continued his studies at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris under Μ.V. Velickovic with a scholarship from Onassis Foundation. His work is shown at numerus museums and international art fairs like, the Benaki museum, the National Gallery of Greece, Onassis Foundation, Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Centre, Art Paris and Art Athina. He has been awarded with the 1st prize of the Jannis and Zoe Spyropoulos Foundation (1995), the Greek Ministry of Culture Melina Mercouri award in 1998 and the Academy of Athens award for new painters under the age of 40 in 2004. In 1997 he received the Grand Ρrix of the Paul Louis Weiller contest which is regularly hosted by the Ιnstitut de France. His work is part of big private collections like the Sotiris Felios Collection. He lives and works in Athens.
